Low Country Exploration

Continuing the exploration of our new area we hired captain and guide, and a a group of us took a long boat trip through Georgia's rich salt marshes and creeks, sighting dolphins and osprey, and bald eagle nests. We docked and stepped ashore the wide, empty beach of Wassaw Island National WildlifeRefuge. Accessible only by boat, we hiked the island beach-combing, bird watching, and exploring the magnificent maritime forest and sheltering sand dunes.

My Doug, John & Karen Evans and Shelby!

Hiking through the woods to arrive at spectacular Wassau Beach.

All alone except for this gathering of pelicans.

A treasure was found!

Another beautiful day on Skidaway.

The magic of the Low Country
